Better understand, predict and treat complications

Since the lifting of embargo in 2015, CRYOSTEM has promoted its biological resources collection as part of a dedicated programme to give access to the national and international scientific community to pursue a major objective: better understand the biology of complications of marrow transplantation (and as a result of this research, a number of issues in contemporary immunology and oncology) and in return better prevent, diagnose and treat these complications.

Today, to accelerate these discoveries, CRYOSTEM is giving access to almost 200,000 biological samples of transplant donor-recipient pair in its collection to academic and industrial laboratories from around the world.

Initially focused on the single disease of graft-versus-host (Graft-versus-Host Disease or GvHD), the scope was further extended in November 2016 to all the complications of HSCT (with the authorization of the Committee of the Protection of Persons – CPP – South Mediterranean I).

Submission of research projects can be done at any time of the year. The application files, available on request, are examined during the session of CRYOSTEM Scientific Committee following the date of the submission of the file. 4 sessions are organized at least annually.

The theme of the research projects is free, but must fall, directly or indirectly (immunology work for example), into the field of study of the complications of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Application files for access to the CRYOSTEM Collection include, after a brief description of the collection, an administrative and scientific form intended for the project leader. A detailed description of the project (rationale, objectives, methods, expected results and potential applications) is requested in the file. The total cost of the project, subdivided into expenditure items (access to the biological resources of the collection, human resources, equipment, consumables) must also be detailed. The price list is included in the annex to the application file.
